Flotsam - for Fresh Air Sculpture 2024 - Floating porcelain sculptures inspired by beach treasures. My favourite moments as a child were spent collecting shells and other items the sea gifted. I have also enjoyed doing this with my own children. Children readily appreciate the awe and wonder of the natural world. As adults we have to allow ourselves time to revel in such things.

Fleet - for Fresh Air Sculpture 2024 - a shoal of imagined porcelain fish jumping out of the water. An allegory of jumping from a burning building. Our seas, rivers and waterways face a toxic, uninhabitable future. Underwater species need our help. The loss of their lives will ultimately impact our lives in ways more profound and terrible than we can yet imagine. Changing our ways is a matter of life and death, an unseen struggle of epic proportions

Flourish - for Fresh Air Sculpture 2024 - A chandelier of porcelain phytoplankton. Bleached white to highlight the threats posed by acidification and sea warming. These microscopic plant life form the basis of the entire ocean food chain. They are a cornerstone species of organic matter from which all other life on earth relies due to its massive role in removing carbon dioxide from our atmosphere and providing us with oxygen to breathe. Research suggests that quantities of phytoplankton are in decline, this in turn threatens to accelerate the effects of climate change.
